Welcome to the strange
 

I am Mickael Johnes and I present you the first book of an excellent collection. Its title is Magyk. It is a weird, strange and very interesting collection. It was written by Angie Sage. She’s English and her book was translated in French by Nathalie Serval. The English title is “Septimus Heap : Magyk”. There is an internet address which presents the world of Magyk, it’s very good. So the story is in the Middle Ages. There are castles, wizard’s tower, wizards, the King, the Queen, the Princess, the farmer, the merchant… and the castle life. 

The landscapes are the castle, the Wizard’s Tower, the Marram’s swamp, the port, Sully’s Tavern, the Forest … In the story, there is an imaginary world (it doesn’t exist on Earth) but the story is real.

We find spells, magic, wizards. It’s good because there are joy, suspense, crimes, tragic. There are a lot of feelings, treason.

The main characters are :

- Marcia Guerstrand, the extraordinary wizard

- Sarah and Silas Heap, the parents of seven children. Silas is a magician. They live near the castle.

- Septimus Heap alias 412, he’s the seventh son. He has a lot of powers but he doesn’t know it.

- Zelda, the white witch and Septimus’s aunt. She lives in Marram’s Swamp.

- Jenne, the daughter of the Quenn, who was abandoned and brought up by the Heap family.

- The necromancer, Dom Daniel, who is the bad wizard. He wants to kill the extraordinary magician and take her magic belt

- The Prowler who tries to kill the Queen’s daughter, Jenna. He’s managed by Dom Daniel.

The Story is basic but it charms people and there is a story for each person. The main story is :

So, the good magicians and the extraordinary magician protect the castle against the nasty characters. But the King and the Queen are assassinated and their daughter is saved by Marcia, who is a novice. Then, she must abandon Jenna but Silas finds her and adopts her. After ten years, the Prowler finds the princess and wants to kill her. She has plenty of soldiers and they begin to hunt the Queen’s daughter. Then Jenna, her brothers, Marcia and 412 (who is a young soldier) run away to Zelda. But the Prowler and his sbires pursue them. During the chase, Dom Daniel kills the wizards who protect the city and becomes the owner of the castle.

So is the Prowler going to kill the princess and her friends ?

Is Dom Daniel going to take the magic Belt and kill Marcia ?

What’s the role of 412, Zelda ?

Where does the magic stop ?
